CONFORMATION, DISPOSITION AND BEAUTY!!

"Sporting the fine head, neck, muscled legs, and heavy fore and hindquarters of the breed, Twister easily pulls people into his orbit."

"You bring him out of the trailer and walk him into the barn, and people follow him," Barbara Hoffer said. "Conformation-wise, he is just almost perfect, in addition to having this spirit about him that loves to show."

Twister's pedigree..

Twister's sire is a real outcross to all the impressive breed stallions currently in Australia & America. As you can read below, his sire was only able to produce 3 offspring before his untimely demise. To produce an AQHA World Champion from only 3 babies is quite an accomplishment when you consider most stallions in the USA have over 100 foals each year. Twister's paternal grand sire, CL Buckley was an ABRA WORLD CHAMPION and sire of 54 IBHA, ABRA, PHBA World Champions, 53 IBHA, ABRA & PHBA Res. World Champions and 23 AQHA World Show Top Ten placegetters.

Now, as I am always going on and on about the absolute need for a sire to have a PROVEN dam line...Well check this maternal bloodline...FULL OF AQHA WORLD CHAMPIONS and AQHA World Champion Producers!

His dam "Not Kiddin" is a FULL SISTER to...

Story from AQHA online about Twister winning this years 3yo Stallion class at the 2007 AQHA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

3-YEAR-OLD STALLIONS

ALL JOKING ASIDE, NOT KIDDIN ME ADDS COLOR TO THE WORLD SHOW.

BY MEGAN BROWNELL, JOURNAL INTERN

Not Kiddin Me wins 3-year-old stallions led by Ross Roark on November 17.

Building his buckskin legacy, Not Kiddin Me walked out a winner in 3-year-old stallions at the 2007 AQHA World Championship Show.

Presented at halter by AQHA Pro Horseman Ross Roark, “Twister” was bred and is owned by John and Barbara Hoffer of Auburn, Kansas.

Barbara thanked many people, including trainer Aaron Hall, for supporting Twister in his show campaign, before following her champion out the arena gates.

“We are so proud of this colt,” Barbara said, holding her new belt buckle.

She and John both mentioned how special Twister is and that he got his barn name in honor of his sire. Buckleys Mr Twister was tragically shot at age 3. He sired two fillies and the only colt sired by him is Not Kiddin Me.

Not Kiddin Me is out of Not Kiddin by Kid Clu.

John and Barbara described their stallion as a sweetheart.

“I love, first of all, his personality,” Barbara said. “He is the nicest, best-minded stallion I’ve ever been around.”

“He’s a sweet, sweet horse,” John said.

John won 2-year-old stallions with Not Kiddin Me at the 2006 Bayer Select World Championship Show. He has earned three American Buckskin Registry Association world champion titles.

Not Kiddin Me placed first under three of five judges.

“The way he’s built -- he’s just balanced and everything fits together on him,” Barbara said.

“He loves Sweet Tarts,” John said as Barbara pulled a roll of candy out of her pocket.

Twister will be getting plenty of Sweet Tarts when Barbara and John take him home for a while and prepare him for breeding season. They plan to continue showing him next year.

“You don’t get horses like this,” Barbara said. “God blessed us with this one.”

2-YEAR-OLD STALLIONS

A JACKET AND A TROPHY.

BY CHRISTINE HAMILTON, FIELD EDITOR

“When they called out the 11th one, and I knew I was 10th, I thought, ‘Oh, gosh, I got a jacket!’” said John Hoffer of Auburn, Kansas. “And then I just kept waiting and waiting.

“Finally they called me, and I couldn’t believe it.”

He and his buckskin stallion, Not Kiddin Me, won the jacket and the gold trophy that came along with the 2006 Bayer Select world championship in 2-year-old stallions.

The reserve championship went to Randal Menscer and Mr More Phenomenal, last year’s Bayer Select champion yearling stallion.

“We thought he was good enough to win,” said John’s wife, Barbara. “But towards the end there was a fly on him, and every time John would get him to set up he’d move, and every time a judge was there he’d move.

"Finally they called me, and I couldn't believe it," said John Hoffer of Auburn, Kansas. He led Not Kiddin Me to the 2006 Bayer Select world championship in 2-year-old stallions.
“My husband really doesn’t like to show, and he did a superb job, and I’m so proud of him,” Barbara added and gave her husband a kiss. “I’m proud of you, too, bud,” she said to the horse.

“He’s awful pretty, and we’re proud of him,” John said. “This is our No. 2 highlight. Dun Beyond Reality won a world (championship) the first time for us.” Dun Beyond Reality, also a buckskin, was the 2002 world champion 3-year-old stallion and 2003 world champion amateur aged stallion.

Not Kiddin Me is a homebred for the Hoffers, by Buckleys Mr Twister and out of Not Kiddin by Kid Clu.

“All our horses are N/N,” Barbara said. “We work really hard on our operation to try and breed high quality horses. I think God’s really has blessed us a lot because he’s given us beautiful animals like this.”

Not Kiddin Me’s barn name is “Twister,” named after his sire.

“His daddy got shot when he was 3 years old,” Barbara explained. “We had three mares bred to him, and this is one of the babies. He carries on his legacy.”

Twister's sire, Buckley's Mr Twister was tragically shot by teens on shooting spree ... this is a story from AQHA online about "Twister" and the tragic loss of his sire

TWISTER'S LEGACY

COLT’S SIRE KILLED BY TEENS ON A SHOOTING SPREE.

BY CHRISTINE HAMILTON, FIELD EDITOR

Barbara Hoffer and her yearling stallion Not Kiddin Me. Teens on a shooting spree shot the horse's sire out in his pasture

Most folks associate John and Barbara Hoffer with their two-time world champion buckskin stallion Dun Beyond Reality, shown by trainer Mike McMillian of Gainesville, Texas.

Few remember the buckskin stallion they showed before the big horse: Buckleys Mr Twister, aka “Twister,” a 1998 stallion the Hoffers bred by CL Buckley and out of CL Millicent by Dan Dooley.

“He was the first buckskin we really started winning with,” Barbara recalled. They showed him to top-10 World Show finishes as a weanling and a yearling. Then they brought him out of retirement and showed him as an aged stallion, again with a top-10 World Show finish.

“That year, we decided to breed him (in 2003) and bred 3 mares, two of mine and one outside mare,” Hoffer said. “Right after we bred those mares, we found him dead in the pasture one morning.”

“He was killed by three teenagers, a 17-year-old and two 19-year-olds, in the process of killing about 10 horses in our area,” she continued. “They were just being mean. They got off with a misdemeanor.”

The tone of her voice tells you it’s not something you get over easily.

“It was a tragedy, and I couldn’t even talk about it for six months,” she added. “Finding my horse laying there dead. That horse lay out there in the rain. They killed him about midnight, shot him with a rifle; we found the rifle casing.”

At that point, the Hoffers didn’t know if any of the mares they bred were in foal, but the next year their Kid Clu mare, Not Kiddin, foaled a little buckskin colt.

“He was the first baby that was born,” Hoffer said. “And I wanted a buckskin stud colt because of Twister.” They named him Not Kiddin Me.

So far, the colt has won several International Buckskin Horse Association championships. They brought him to the World Show to show in the amateur and open yearling stallions classes.

Hoffer led him to a third-place trophy in the amateur, and they plan for him to show in the open with Aaron Hall.

“To me, he’s Twister’s legacy,” Hoffer said. “So, the barn name on this colt is Twister, too. We’ll carry on his legacy.”
